Blueprints, sketches, drawings, and specifications are studied to determine the dimensions and tolerances of a finished work piece, the sequence of operations and set up requirements. Pattern shapes and dimensions for product parts are calibrated to enter templates into a computer file. Break marks, dimensions and reference points are marked on raw materials to guide machine operators. Sheet metal is sheared and formed with the utmost care to achieve a precise fit.
